Wilton ranked fourth safest place to live

Wilton is the fourth safest place to live in Connecticut in 2016, according to ranking and review site Niche.com.

For its ranking, Niche used FBI Uniform Crime Report data to assess the overall safety of municipalities in the state.

Wilton had the following crime rates:

  • Assault: 4 per 100,000.
  • Robbery: 0 per 100,000.
  • Murder: 0 per 100,000.
  • Burglary: 86 per 100,000.
  • Vehicle theft: 16 per 100,000.
  • Larceny: 291 per 100,000.

New Canaan was named the No. 1 safest place, followed by Easton and Weston.

Other Fairfield County towns that made top 20 in the ranking include Redding (No. 8), Monroe (No. 11), Darien (No. 12), Brookfield (No. 16) and Westport (No. 17).
